Did You Know That Vlad The Impaler, Cried Tears Of Blood?

Many things are said about the Prince of Wallachia, known as Vlad the Impaler. He was the guy who impaled people. He is the vampire Count Dracula. But have you heard of him crying blood tears?

What Do We Know About Vlad The Impaler?

Vlad the Impaler lived in the 1400s or close to the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance era. Romania was separated into three principalities: Wallachia, Transylvania and Moldavia. He was the middle child of a family of three sons. His mother was a noblewoman, while his father was Vlad Dracul II, Prince of Wallachia.

Vlad Dracula was a Christian-Orthodox, as was Wallachia, placed between the Roman Catholic Empire and the Islamic Ottoman Empire. Due to political and religious conflict, Wallachia was a vassal state rather than a country in its own right. When Vlad Dracula took over the throne, he put Wallachia on the map and grew its legend.

The Odaxelagnia Paraphilia Complex

Many kinks are now part of our daily lives as they make their way into our phones or while browsing. With the inclusion of so many types of romance novels, among other entertainment, one caught my attention, odaxelagnia. Let’s dive in!

The Quick Overall View Of Odaxelagnia

The simplest way to put it, odaxelagnia ranges itself in the paraphilia family. Odaxelagnia is, at its core, achieving orgasmic or sexual arousal through biting your partner or the other way around.

Some researchers consider odaxelagnia to be sadomasochism at a mild level. Often the bites resemble nibbling, which is quite similar to many mammals in the wild when performing sexual intercourse.

Goth Shaming Is A Thing It Is Dreadful

When someone says “goth” or “gothic,” most people automatically think of Marilyn Manson or scary-looking people. Being goth is so much more than that.

I Was Goth Before I Knew It

At thirty-seven years old, I believe I do know a big chunk of myself. I think I was born goth. I just didn’t know it. Or maybe I knew it, but the people raising me didn’t want me to be goth. They tried and shoved the Barbie look down my throat. It didn’t work. Goth shaming is a thing and it is dreadful.

My grandparents raised me. I am an only child, and so is my mother. As for my father, he left not long after I was born, never to return. My grandpa loved me no matter what I looked like. But, my grandmother was all about appearances. She never shied away from letting me know she wanted me to have blond hair and be lady-like.

The Ups And Downs Of Found-Footage

My favorite horror movie genre is found footage. It’s like I can’t get enough of that style, and I know what many people think, it’s cheap, and it’s cheesy and bad. But, many underrated movies are gaining popularity in the genre. Here are some!

The Found Footage Debate

Many of us believe that the found footage style began with The Blair Witch Project in 1999. Then you have those who argue that Cannibal Holocaust from 1980 is the first of its kind. However, maybe some of us were wrong. The ups and downs of found-footage started in the new millennium for sure!

*** Before we go any further, let’s remind ourselves of a great tool to avoid trauma while watching horror movies: Does The Dog Die ***

While Cannibal Holocaust was part found footage, it wasn’t all found footage. However, maybe they were the first to exploit the marketing method of asking their actors to hide to reinforce the “true story” part. The director was also dragged to court and had to pay a fee for animal cruelty.

Nosferatu - 1922

Nosferatu Redeems Dracula As A Vampire

In 1922, a new vampire face took over the silver screen despite Dracula’s heir denying its right to enter the lore. But, nothing could stop Count Orlok to become a face of horror.

Nosferatu As A Vampire

When F.W. Murnau presented the idea of the movie to Bram Stoker’s estate, they refused the right to the movie.

Based upon the famous Gothic novel named Dracula, even Stoker’s heir decided to take legal action following the release of the movie despite the refusal. In other words, Nosferatu redeems Dracula as a vampire.

We might believe vampires don’t exist but back in medieval Europe it was common to protect oneself from a bloodsucking creature.

Medieval Europe

In the past decade, archeologists found many proofs of vampire burial. Skeletons exposed in specialized exhibition manifesting the belief of our ancestors, the belief of vampires.

In the sixteenth century, people were not understanding the human body yet as well as we do today. Many diseases were mysteries to villagers of numerous countries, and often, it was up to the Church to come up with an explanation.

Elizabeth Báthory The Blood Countess

Here is the story of a woman who inspired the vampire folklore for centuries. She is one of the most horrifying people who ever lived, and one we can never forget. Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed.

Elizabeth The Countess

Let’s dig in Elizabeth Báthory the Blood Countess. Elizabeth Báthory, born on August 7th, 1560, was a noble Hungarian woman. She reigned over the Kingdom of Hungary that now is part of Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania.

When young, the countess suffered from many seizures that led historians to understand those were probably from epilepsy and possibly transmitted from inbreeding from her direct parents.

The Odd Origin of Vampires In History

Vampires are part of our folklore for hundreds of years. The belief that a being subsisting on blood timelessly fascinated us. But where did it come from? Let’s find the odd origin of vampires in history.

The Odd Origin

The odd origin of vampires in history, let’s dig in. In the early seventeenth hundreds, the process of decomposition remained something people did not know about.

The black plague or bubonic plague was now part of their past, but most corpses went through incineration, thus spreading diseases through the air, but that’s another topic. Those considered to be regular people had a coffin for their burial.

Kerrelyn Sparks How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire Review

I must admit I read, Kerrelyn Sparks’s How To Marry A Millionaire Vampire a while ago, but I still remember it quite well, and I thought maybe it was time for me to do a review about the first book in the Love At Stake series that I read in two sittings.

Nice & Easy

The book itself is quite enjoyable, first of the Love At Stake series by Kerrelyn Sparks. There is no pretence in her writing which is something that I very much enjoy. It is easy to follow, no complications or “read between the lines” all is very well exposed and because of her writing, very relaxing.

The story was captivating from the beginning. The adventure very well thought out to be just enough that you don’t want to put the book down, yet just relaxing enough that you keep turning the pages. It was quite well thought out.
