The Most Brutal Witch Trials Were In Scotland

The Witch trials happened all around Europe and not just in North America. In fact, there was a place worse than Salem, and its name was North Berwick in Scotland.

When Witchcraft Had No More Place

On Halloween night in 1590, the East Lothian people suffered the accusation of witchcraft. It occurred in St. Andrew’s Auld Kirk in North Berwick.

The Witch Trials lasted for two long years, and over seventy victims underwent the consequences of high treason. The accusations knew no boundaries as the 5th Earl of Bothwell also received the charges.

The Little Match Girl As A Maiden And Unhappy Girl

2023 has just begun, and it’s time to learn new things and dig deeper into our gothic side to enjoy the morbid and unusual. Let’s start with something light and dark, shall we?

Card Games And Fairy Tales

New Year’s greetings, Biters! Let’s kick 2023 off with a rather odd choice for a GBM article. I want to look at Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Now, I want to discuss something other than the anime or manga. I want to look at the real-world trading card game, but even more so, one card in particular, The Unhappy Maiden.

Blood Creek — 2009

Would Cancel Culture Cancel 2009 Blood Creek?

With all the movements of awareness in today’s United States in the film industry, it’s hard to be edgy. The horror genre is often either overlooked or over-judged by people that aren’t horror fans, to begin with. So, my review of the movie Blood Creek, fourteen years later…

The Official Summary

In 1936, the Wollners, a German family living in Town Creek, West Virginia, are contacted by the Third Reich to host a visiting scholar. In need of money, they accept Professor Ricard Wirth into their home, unaware of the Third Reich’s practices in the occult or Wirth’s real mission, which will keep the family bound for decades to come.

Now, more than 70 years later, Evan Marshall’s older brother Victor mysteriously disappears near Town Creek for two years and suddenly returns very much alive, having escaped his captors.

Nosferatu - 1922

Nosferatu Redeems Dracula As A Vampire

In 1922, a new vampire face took over the silver screen despite Dracula’s heir denying its right to enter the lore. But, nothing could stop Count Orlok to become a face of horror.

Nosferatu As A Vampire

When F.W. Murnau presented the idea of the movie to Bram Stoker’s estate, they refused the right to the movie.

Based upon the famous Gothic novel named Dracula, even Stoker’s heir decided to take legal action following the release of the movie despite the refusal. In other words, Nosferatu redeems Dracula as a vampire.

The Dark Artistic Side of Rose Black

Throughout history, the word Gothic grew to mean many things. At first it was a reference to the late Dark Ages architecture. Then, it became a fashion statement before we decided to refer to it as art and a lifestyle.

Definition of Gothic

Gothic architecture is a style that flourished in Europe during the High and Late Middle Ages. It evolved from Romanesque architecture and was succeeded by Renaissance architecture.

Originating in 12th-century France, it was widely used, especially for cathedrals and churches, until the 16th century. But now it is more than just architecture, it is a lifestyle. — Wikipedia

The Sandman An Underrated Creature Or Monster?

Mr. Sandman bring me a dream. Make him the cutest that I’ve ever seen. Give him to lips like roses and clover. Then tell him that his lonesome nights are over.

Mystical Origins

The origin of the character of the Sandman brings us to northern-western Europe; however, it is uncertain to exactly where it began. European folklore describes the Sandman as a man who sprinkles sand or dust on or in the eyes of children to have them fall asleep. In most versions, the Sandman only brings out good dreams.
