What if Disney Movies had a horror counterpart?

Recently, we had the release of Winnie The Pooh, Blood And Honey, and people were quick to judge. But Winnie was only the beginning.

Newly, heads turned when Winnie the Pooh became public domain when its copyright laws expired. Sorry, AA Milne. The result of Winnie the Pooh on the open market gave us a new horror movie called Winnie The Pooh: Blood And Honey.

The Story Of Blood And Honey

The movie tells us the story of the creatures of the Hundred Acre Wood feeling neglected since Christopher Robin left them to get on with his own life.

This hurt Winnie the Pooh so much that it turned him into a ravaging bear ripe for massacring the rest of the creatures of Hundred Acre Wood, and none of his friends were safe.

We see Poor Eeyore knocked off first, and Tigger, who put on a good bouncing chase, wasn’t safe from Winnie the Pooh’s murderous rage.

Reading about Winnie the Pooh, Blood and Honey made me think about other childhood favourites that aren’t safe from horror grabs. Those in the horror movie-making process are quite beloved tales from Disney and some beloved fairy tales.

The Fairy Tales Are Getting A Horror Makeover

Bambi The Reckoning: We all know the original Disney movie, Bambi. We all cried when Bambi’s mother died after being shot by hunters during the open season. We see Bambi growing up, making friends with forest creatures like Thumper.

Currently in Pre-production is the horror movie Bambi The Reckoning. The synopsis says Bambi turns from an innocent, sweet deer to a killing machine getting revenge on hunters driven by his mother’s death.

The Curse of Humpty Dumpty: Just like the nursery rhyme Humpty Dumpty, this doll falls and is put back together. But when put back together piece by piece, he transforms into a killer doll.

The Curse of Humpty Dumpty hit our screens in 2021 and had a sequel in 2022 called The Curse of Humpty Dumpty 2. In the sequel, the doll pulls a Jason, becoming a summer camp killer.

Cinderella’s Curse: We all know the original story of Cinderella. It wasn’t happy, with the stepsisters cutting off their toes and shaving their heels off. It was all to fit in the glass slipper.

Walt Disney's 1950 — Cinderella
Walt Disney’s 1950 — Cinderella

This will be an incredible and unique spin on the fairy tale as we know it. There are going to be some genuinely horrific deaths at Cinderella’s hands. Filming begins this coming month in the UK.

Sleeping Beauty Massacre: Brought to you by Champdogs US is a horror retelling of Sleeping Beauty. In this upcoming horror movie, the beautiful princess Thalia is thrown into ruins after her father’s mysterious death.

She lives with Prince Edison, whom she loves but can no longer marry since losing her status. Queen Velma wants the kingdom to herself and will use her dark powers to get what she wants.

Velma casts Thalia into a deep sleep, hoping she will never wake up. But one day, she does, and from there, a violent twist will occur with gory and graphic deaths.

Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare: The director of Winnie the Pooh Blood and Honey will be this remake of JM Barrie’s story Peter Pan

In this story, Peter Pan and his band of Lost Boys decide to get rid of their villains, including Captain Hook, once and for all. They go on a blood-soaked, murderous adventure. Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare is currently in development.
